Free Trade Copiers: What They Cost You Instead

Free trade copiers exist, mostly as Expert Advisors on one computer. What they cost in other ways, when free stops being enough, and what Trepeat costs.

Yes, free trade copiers exist. Most are Expert Advisors you install in MetaTrader, and they copy between terminals on one computer. They cost nothing to download. What you pay with is a machine that stays on, your own time when copying stops, and limits on where your accounts can be. This guide lists the free options, what each costs in other ways, and where a paid copier earns its price.

Is there a free trade copier for MT4 and MT5?

Yes. Free copiers for MT4 and MT5 come in four kinds, and only the first two are free for as long as you use them.

Kind of freeWhat it isWhat you pay with
A free Expert AdvisorInstalled in each terminal, usually all on one computerA PC or VPS that stays on, and your own upkeep
An open-source copierCode you download, set up and run yourselfSetup time, and no one to ask when it breaks
A free demo of a paid copierA trial of a product you then buy or rentThe price, once the demo ends
A free trial of a cloud copierThe full product for a set timeThe subscription, if you keep it

One thing is often filed under "free copier" and is a different product. A platform's own copy feature lets you follow another trader. It does not repeat your own trades onto your own accounts. How cTrader Copy differs from copying your own accounts explains the difference.

Which trade copiers say they are free?

Three copiers called themselves free on their own pages when we read them on 14 October 2026. We report only what each page said that day. Check the page yourself before you install anything, because terms change.

CopierWhat its own page saysWhere it runs
FX Blue Personal Trade Copier"Free download". Copies between MT4 and MT5 terminals "running on the same computer"In your terminals, on one computer
CopyMasterProListed as free in the MetaTrader Market. "Works on a single computer with multiple terminals"In your terminals, on one computer
Copiix"100% FREE" for MT4, MT5 and cTrader. Runs "on your local machine". The page also lists premium tiersOn your own machine

A free local copier is a sound choice when all your terminals already run on one PC that is on while you trade. It copies the trades and the download costs nothing. The rest of this guide is about what happens outside that case.

What does a free trade copier cost in other ways?

A free copier moves the cost from a bill to a machine and to your time. None of these show on a download page:

  • A machine that never sleeps. An installed copier only copies while every terminal is open and online. Sleep, a reboot, an update or a dropped connection stops it.
  • A VPS, if you want it always on. Renting a Windows server to keep the terminals running is typically a few tens of dollars a month. At that point the copier is free and the copying is not.
  • Your own upkeep. You install it in every terminal, update it, and restart it when a terminal hangs.
  • Finding out late. If the copier stops, you may learn of it from a follower account that no longer matches the source.
  • One computer. The terminals usually have to sit together on it. An account whose terminal runs on another machine is outside what the copier can see.
  • Support. Check what help the publisher offers before you depend on a free tool.

Cloud vs local (VPS) trade copier goes through the same costs model by model.

When does free stop being enough?

Free stops being enough when the machine becomes the problem. Three signs, in the order people usually meet them:

Why Trepeat fits several prop accounts better

If you run several prop accounts, a free local copier leaves you looking after a machine. Trepeat is built for that case:

  • Nothing to keep running. Trepeat runs on its own servers. There is no EA to install and no PC or VPS to keep on, and copying continues with your computer off.
  • MT4, MT5 and cTrader in any direction. A source on one platform can repeat onto followers on the others, at different brokers.
  • Sizing per repeater. Each repeater has its own multiplier, or sizes by each account's equity, so accounts of different sizes take proportionate trades. See position sizing when copying trades.
  • Symbol remapping. When brokers name an instrument differently, a remapping places the copy under the follower's name. See symbol mapping across brokers.
  • Alerts when a copy fails. A failed or skipped copy is kept on the trade with its reason and raises an alert, so you hear about it the same day.

Running several prop firm evaluations at once shows the set-up end to end.

Is Trepeat free?

No. Trepeat is a paid trade copier with a free trial. It costs $15 per account per month with every feature included, and the smallest subscription is 2 accounts, a source and a follower, so $30 a month.

The free trial is 1 week on up to 3 cTrader accounts, with every feature. MT4 and MT5 accounts are not part of the trial: they connect as soon as you subscribe. Pricing and the free trial has the exact terms, including what happens when the trial ends.

One scope note before you compare: Trepeat currently connects demo-environment accounts only, the type prop-firm evaluation and funded accounts usually run on.

What the subscription pays for

The price buys the machine you no longer run. Set against a free copier installed on one PC:

What you deal withFree copier on your PCTrepeat
What you payNothing, or a VPS bill to keep it on$15 per account per month
What you installAn EA in every terminalNothing
When your PC is offCopying stopsCopying continues
PlatformsThose it has a piece for, on one machineMT4, MT5 and cTrader, any direction
A copy that failsDepends on the toolKept on the trade with its reason, and alerted
Where your password is keptIn your own terminalEncrypted in a vault. No password on cTrader

Trepeat copies opens and closes, in full or in part. It does not place stop loss or take profit orders on the follower: a copy closes when the source position closes.

How to try it without paying

Connect up to 3 cTrader accounts, create a repeater and press Run. A trade on the source account then shows on the Trades page with each copy beside it, its size, its fill price and how long it took. That is enough to judge the tool on your own brokers before you pay. The cTrader trade copier page covers that platform, your first repeater has the steps, and how to choose a trade copier gives the questions to put to any copier, free or paid.

Free Trade Copiers — common questions

Is there a free trade copier for MT4?

Yes. Free copiers for MT4 are mostly Expert Advisors you install in each terminal, and they copy between terminals on one computer. The download is free; the computer has to stay on for as long as you want trades copied.

Is Trepeat free?

No. Trepeat is a paid trade copier: $15 per account per month, from $30 a month for two accounts. The free trial is 1 week on up to 3 cTrader accounts; MT4 and MT5 accounts connect when you subscribe.

What does a free trade copier cost in other ways?

A machine and your time. An installed copier only copies while every terminal is open and online, so you keep a PC on or rent a VPS, install and update the copier yourself, and find out for yourself when it has stopped.

Can a free trade copier copy between MetaTrader and cTrader?

Some say they can, as software that runs on your own machine. A cloud copier does it with nothing installed: Trepeat copies between MT4, MT5 and cTrader accounts in any direction.
