How far back TradingView's Bar Replay can go depends on your plan and on the interval you replay. Essential gets 6 months of one-minute data, Plus 1 year, and the full stored history from Premium up; longer intervals reach further back. The plan table adds the rows for day, second and tick data.

Depth by interval

For Essential, depth is “now to 6 months back, multiplied by interval in minutes”. For Plus it is “now to 1 year back, multiplied by the interval in minutes”. By interval:

Replay intervalEssential reaches backPlus reaches back
1 minute6 months1 year
2 minutes12 months2 years
3 minutes18 months3 years
5 minutes30 months5 years
15 minutes90 months15 years

Depth divided by interval is the same in every row (6 ÷ 1 = 6, 12 ÷ 2 = 6, 18 ÷ 3 = 6, 30 ÷ 5 = 6, 90 ÷ 15 = 6 for Essential), so the cap behaves like a fixed number of bars, whatever the interval. Premium, Expert and Ultimate replay time-based data “as far back as the symbol's data is available on TradingView”, and daily intervals show all available data on every plan.

Bar Replay by plan

Day and higher intervals replay on every plan, Basic included. Minute data reaches back 180 days on Essential and 365 days on Plus, and is all of it on Premium and Ultimate. Second data is Premium and Ultimate only. Tick data is Ultimate only, for 7 days. Deep backtesting is on Premium and Ultimate.

Second-based data is stored from August 2022, and tick-based history is available for up to 7 days on Ultimate.

Which plans include Bar Replay

Every plan, Basic included, since day and higher intervals replay on all five. Prices per month, billed annually: Essential (€12.95), Plus (€29.95), Premium (€59.95) and Ultimate (€199.95); Basic is €0 “forever”. How much history you get, not whether you get the feature, is what the plan changes.

Other limits

  • Chart types. Renko, Kagi, PnF and Range are among the chart types that do not work, and “Bar Replay does not work with spread charts and tick-based charts”.
  • Smaller steps. TradingView says “It's not possible to replay bars in smaller segments”. What you see moves a bar at a time, at the interval you chose.
  • Intraday history is shorter than daily. Its example: daily data for one stock goes back to 1980, while one-minute data starts in 2000. Some symbols have less. The replay limits “do not apply to continuous futures charts”, which have limits of their own (on Premium and up, 30 days of seconds data and one year of one-minute data).
  • When you hit a limit, the chart shows “Data point unavailable” and the timeframe does not change.
  • Indicators. They can use replayed data in their calculations, but “Regression trend” and “fixed range volume profile” are inactive during replay.

What a bar-at-a-time replay can and cannot tell you about a trade is covered in bar replay against tick data, and the test itself in how to backtest a trading strategy. Other tools are in backtesting software compared, and the pricing and limits of a different replay tool in FX Replay pricing and limits.
