Journal
Attaching your own record to a closed trade: ratings, notes, screenshots, and the calendar.
A journal entry is your own record attached to one closed trade. Trepeat fills in the trade's facts — symbol, side, P&L, timing — and the entry adds what those facts do not contain: what you intended, how you scored it, and how you felt.
Creating an entry
Entries are created from Trades, not from the Journal page. The journal button appears on a trade's row only once the trade has closed, because an entry records an outcome. It sits on the source row of the group: the entry belongs to the trade you took, not to each copy of it, so one decision copied to five followers is still one entry. A trade already carrying an entry shows the button filled — opening it edits the existing entry rather than starting a second.
What an entry holds
- R:R — your intended reward-to-risk, entered as the second number and stored in the form 1:x.
- Rating — A+, A, B, C or F, your grade for how the trade was executed. Clicking the selected grade again clears it.
- Emotional state — a 1-10 slider, reading Very Calm, Calm, Neutral, Emotional or Very Emotional. It starts at 5.
- Model — the setup or strategy name, up to 80 characters. It is free text, so keeping the spelling consistent is what makes it worth filtering on later.
- Notes — up to 4,000 characters.
- Screenshots — up to 10 images per entry, each up to 10 MB, as JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF.
Every field is optional. An entry with nothing but a rating is a valid entry.
Screenshots are stored privately. They are never publicly addressable: the page fetches a link that expires after an hour, and a fresh one is issued when you next open the entry. A file whose actual contents are not one of the four image formats is rejected on upload even if it is named as an image.
List view
One row per entry, showing Date, Symbol, Side, Outcome, Rating, Emotion and how many screenshots it carries. Outcome is Win, Loss or BE for break-even, and comes from the trade rather than from anything you typed. Expanding a row shows the notes, the model and the screenshots without leaving the page; the header's toggle expands or collapses every row at once.
Clicking a column header sorts by it — date, P&L, R:R, rating, emotion, symbol, side, outcome or model — and clicking again reverses the direction. Each header also carries its own filter: day of the week, symbol, side, outcome, rating and emotion. The symbol list is built from the entries you actually have, so it contains no instrument you have never traded.
Rows per page is 10, 20, 50 or 100.
Calendar view
The toggle beside Export switches between the list and a calendar. A day's cell shows that day's P&L, how many trades it held and its win rate, coloured by whether the day finished up or down; days with no trades stay blank. P&L is shown per currency and never added across currencies, the same rule the dashboard follows.
Clicking a day, a month or a year switches to the list showing only that period, with a banner naming what you are looking at. Dismissing the banner clears it.
Archived entries
Archiving an entry removes it from the list without deleting it; the archived view has its own sort and filters. An archived entry opens read-only — restore it first to change anything. Archiving a journal entry never touches the trade it refers to.
Filters live in the address
Search, date range, every column filter, the sort, the page, the rows-per-page and whether you are viewing archived entries are all held in the page address. A filtered journal view can be bookmarked, reloaded or shared with support and will come back exactly as you left it. Clear filters resets them in one action.
Export
Export produces a spreadsheet of Date, Day, Symbol, Side, P&L, R:R, Rating, Emotion, Model and Notes. You choose the columns, and whether to export the entries your filters currently show or all of them — the dialog states both counts before you commit. Screenshots are not included; they stay in Trepeat.
