Account statuses
What each status means, why Standby is normal, and what to do when one will not reconnect.
An account's status says whether Trepeat currently holds a working broker connection for it. It is not a measure of whether copying is configured — a perfectly healthy account sits idle until a repeater needs it.
The statuses
- Connected — the broker has accepted the connection. Trades on this account are seen as they happen, and copies can be placed on it.
- Standby — connected in principle, but no Running repeater needs it, so Trepeat is not holding an open broker session. This is the resting state of a correctly configured account, not a fault.
- Connecting — a connection is being opened. Brief in normal use.
- Disconnecting — the connection is being closed, usually because the last repeater needing the account stopped.
- Disconnected — no broker connection. Trepeat cannot see trades on the account or place copies onto it, and cannot close its positions.
- Error — a connection was attempted and refused. The account row shows when the last attempt failed and what the broker said.
Archived and deleted are not statuses
Archiving and deleting are separate flags. An archived account keeps its history and stops being offered for new repeaters; a deleted one is removed from your list. Either can be in any status at the moment you archive or delete it, and neither closes an open position at your broker.
Reconnecting
Most disconnections resolve themselves: brokers restart demo servers, and Trepeat reconnects without being asked. A connection that stays down for more than about thirty minutes raises an alert, which clears automatically when it recovers.
If it does not recover, the usual cause is that the saved details no longer work — a password changed at the broker, or on cTrader an authorisation that has lapsed. Re-enter the credentials, or on cTrader use Reconnect to re-authorise.
A cTrader account asking to be re-authorised
cTrader access is renewed periodically. When renewal stops working the account is not failed immediately — copying continues until the current access expires, and the account shows an amber re-authorise by note until then. It becomes a real disconnection only once that deadline passes.
Live accounts
A live account can never reach Connected. The rule is enforced by the database, not only the interface: a constraint on the accounts table forbids the combination outright. See Connecting a MetaTrader account.
