Symbol allowlist and remapping

Choosing which symbols copy, and naming them correctly when two brokers disagree.

Two separate controls decide which instruments a repeater copies and what they are called on the follower. The allowlist filters which trades are copied; remapping decides what name the copy is placed under. They are set per repeater.

Symbol allowlist

Leave it empty to repeat every symbol. Add symbols and the repeater copies only those. The allowlist filters the source account's trades, so it lists the source's symbol names — a follower that spells one differently is handled by a mapping, not here.

Symbol remapping

Brokers name the same instrument differently. One writes US500 where another writes US 500; gold appears as both XAUUSD and GOLD. Without a mapping the copy is placed under the source's name, and a follower that does not list that name rejects the order.

A mapping has a source symbol, the target symbol on the follower, and optionally its own ratio that multiplies on top of the repeater's multiplier rather than replacing it.

Applies to

A mapping can apply to every follower or to one named follower. This matters when followers are at different brokers: the target list for All followers shows only symbols available on every follower, so it can legitimately be empty. Pointing the mapping at one follower shows that broker's own symbols instead.

Suggestions, never silent rewrites

Trepeat reads each account's symbol list when the account is added and suggests a target when you create a mapping — it recognises decorations such as a trailing .i or m, the spaces cTrader uses in index names, and a curated list of instruments that go by different names. Where the brokers' own specifications agree on the instrument, that is used too.

⚠️ A suggestion is only ever offered, never applied. Rewriting the instrument on a live order is a trading decision that belongs to the account holder. If Trepeat cannot identify a match it says nothing rather than guessing — silence is the safe failure here, and a wrong instrument is not.

Getting it right before the first copy

Symbol naming is the most common reason a copy fails, and it fails at the moment it matters — when a real trade is being mirrored. Failures of this kind appear as an alert naming the symbol and the follower.

When the target list is available differs by platform. A cTrader account's symbols are read when you add it, so its mappings can be set immediately. A MetaTrader account's symbols are read when it first connects — so if the target picker is empty on a newly added MetaTrader account, run its repeater once and the list fills in.
