Connecting a cTrader account
Authorising with your cTrader ID, adding several accounts from one ID, and re-authorising.
cTrader connects differently from MetaTrader. There is no password to enter: you sign in with your cTrader ID on cTrader's own site and grant Trepeat access, which you can withdraw at any time. Trepeat never sees or stores a cTrader password.
What Trepeat holds
The authorisation itself, encrypted, and nothing else. Because the authorisation is the credential, revoking it in cTrader immediately ends Trepeat's access — there is no stored password left behind that would keep working.
One cTrader ID, several accounts
A single cTrader ID usually covers several trading accounts. After you authorise, Trepeat lists the accounts that ID can reach and you choose which to add. Each one you add uses one account slot, exactly as a MetaTrader account does.
⚠️ cTrader's consent screen pre-selects every account you own. That decides what Trepeat is allowed to see, not what it adds — you still pick the accounts on the next screen — but it is worth reading before approving rather than afterwards.
Adding accounts you created later
An authorisation covers the accounts that existed when it was granted. A demo account you create afterwards is not included, and Trepeat cannot see it. Start Add Account and choose cTrader again: that re-authorises the same cTrader ID and picks up the newer accounts.
Re-authorising is routine and never creates duplicates. Accounts you already have are listed as Already added and cannot be added twice.
When cTrader stops accepting the connection
A cTrader sign-in lasts about a month. When it can no longer be renewed, the account does not fail straight away — copying continues until the current access actually expires, and until then the account shows an amber note asking you to re-authorise by a date. Reconnect takes you back to cTrader to do it.
If it does lapse, you are emailed once. One sign-in restores it; nothing needs rebuilding and your repeaters keep their settings.
Demo accounts only
As on MetaTrader, Trepeat connects demo accounts, and the database refuses to record a live account as connected.
Proprietary firm accounts are supported on cTrader on the same terms as anywhere else: if the firm issues the account on a cTrader demo account, Trepeat connects it, subject to the firm's own rules on copying. What it cannot connect is a challenge placed on a live cTrader account — the engine reaches only cTrader's demo environment, so a live account is unreachable rather than merely refused. You are told which you have at the moment you add it, before paying for anything, so check the account type rather than the “funded” label.
What each account status means, on either platform, is covered in Account statuses.
