Trading Journals Compared: Prices, Free Plans and Accounts

Eight journals, one matrix. Free plan, lowest price, accounts and trial, side by side.

On this page

This page sets eight trading-journal products side by side. It does not rank them, and it does not say which to buy: a journal that suits a futures day trader and one that suits a forex trader with several MetaTrader accounts are different products, and the page leaves that call to the reader.

Vendor by vendor

The matrix is a summary. Below are the longer statements behind it, with each vendor's own wording in quotation marks, so a reader can judge the difference between “automated imports” and a named list of platforms.

TradesViz

  • Free plan. Basic, “free forever”: 1 trading account, stocks only, import limit of 3000 executions per month, 2 image charts per trade.
  • Accounts. Basic 1, Pro 10, Platinum 20 trading accounts.
  • Getting trades in. “70+ auto-sync connections” and “250+ brokers and platforms”, not tied to a plan. The plan table has an “Auto-sync trades” row. Pro and Platinum: unlimited imports.
  • Prop-account features. “Prop Firm Compliance”: track evaluation progress, drawdown limits and rule compliance across multiple prop firm accounts.

Tradervue

  • Free plan. Free accounts are “limited to importing 30 trades per calendar month”. The count is of trades, not executions, and goes by the month of import.
  • Accounts. “Unlimited Trading Accounts” on Silver and Gold.
  • Getting trades in. “Broker Sync” on both paid plans, and “Trade import from brokers” in the comparison table.
  • Prop-account features. No prop firm feature listed.

TradeZella

  • Free plan. No free plan listed.
  • Accounts. Essential 1 active account, Pro up to 50, Ultra unlimited. The monthly cards read “Connect 1 account” and “Connect up to 50 accounts”.
  • Getting trades in. “We support 500+ broker and prop firm integrations that sync your trades automatically.” Trades can also come in by “file upload, or even manual trade adds”.

  • Prop-account features. No prop firm feature listed.
  • Edgewonk also lists a price of $169 for all countries except the EU and UK.

TraderWaves

  • Free plan. “Free forever. No credit card needed.”: 3 trading accounts, standard sync, auto and CSV imports, unlimited journal entries and unlimited image uploads, charts, watchlists, customisable analytics, core trade metrics, PnL calendar, trade and account sharing. Custom tags, self-assessment review, equity and drawdown analytics and CSV export are listed under Pro.
  • Accounts. Free 3 trading accounts; Pro unlimited.

  • TradeTanto shows two prices per plan and says yearly billing saves 20%.

Tradesyncer

  • Free plan. No free plan listed. The journal comes with a 7-day trial that asks for a card and charges on day 7.
  • Accounts. Basic 2 connections with 10 accounts each, Pro 4 connections with 20 each, Flex “Unlimited connections” with “120 accounts included”.
  • Getting trades in. “Trades auto-sync from Tradovate, Rithmic, and ProjectX”; for other platforms, “Import your trades with a CSV upload instead”.
  • Prop-account features. A prop firm tracker for evaluations, resets, activations and payouts, not broken down by plan.
  • Tradesyncer states a yearly discount of up to 30% and also 50% off; no yearly price is listed.

What the matrix cannot tell you

  • How well anything works. A pricing page says what a plan includes, not how reliably it imports a broker's history or how the reports read. A free tier or a trial is the way to test that.
  • Which platforms are covered. Several vendors say “auto-sync” without naming a platform. If you trade on MT4, MT5 or cTrader, find the vendor's supported list and check your own broker on it before paying.
  • What changes next month. Some vendors run promotions with unclear end dates, so a price here is not a promise about the next.

For the questions worth asking of any journal, see the trading journal features checklist. Free tiers are compared on their own in free trading journals compared, and how each vendor says trades get in is set out in the Edgewonk alternatives page.

Where Trepeat is

Trepeat is not in the table. We have no free journal yet, so we left ourselves out of a comparison with products that exist today.

We're working on a free journal and a backtester, with no date yet. Today Trepeat is a trade copier for MT4, MT5 and cTrader, currently on demo accounts, and you can add notes, a grade and screenshots to any copied trade once it closes, with a calendar of your results.

Its journal of copied trades holds your own notes, grade and screenshots on each closed trade, with a calendar view and an Excel (.xlsx) export.

Trading Journals Compared — common questions

Which trading journal is cheapest?

This page does not rank. The matrix lists each vendor's lowest monthly price, in its own currency, and some vendors have a free plan. The cheapest depends on your account count and whether you need auto-sync, so compare plans, not headline prices.

Which trading journals have a free plan?

TradesViz, Tradervue, TraderWaves, Consistry have a free plan, each with different limits. The page also lists the vendors with none.

Is Trepeat in the comparison?

No. We are working on a free journal and have no date for it. Today Trepeat is a trade copier for MT4, MT5 and cTrader, currently on demo accounts, with a journal of the trades it copies.

All questions — pricing, the trial, copying and safety — are in the Help Centre. Still stuck? Email support@trepeat.com.
