How do I copy MT5 trades to an MT4 account?

Put the MT5 account on a repeater as the source account with the MT4 account as its follower account, and press Run; the MT4 side opens each copy as its own position.

  • A netting MT5 source reports one position.Scale in there and the MT4 follower repeats the merged shape the source actually held.

  • The MT4 side is settled.MT4 is always hedging, so each copy opens on its own and partial closes stay matched.

  • Instruments MT4 may not carry. The broker refuses a symbol it lacks; Trepeat records a failed copy, alerts you and suggests the name.

  • Names mapped once.Trepeat proposes the follower's name from its own symbol list rather than guessing.

More about the MT5 to MT4 Trade Copier

Copying from MT5 to MT4 removes one variable and adds another. The follower side is settled: MT4 accounts are hedging, so every copy opens as its own position and a partial close on the source closes part of the copy, sized by the repeater's rule. The source side is where this direction differs from the reverse. An MT5 account can be netting, and a netting account only ever holds one position per symbol — so if you scale into a trade there, it reports a single merged position where a hedging account would have reported two, and the MT4 follower repeats the shape the source actually had rather than the trades you felt you placed. That divergence starts upstream, before Trepeat sees anything. Naming still needs attention in both directions: an MT5 broker may list instruments and decorations an MT4 broker spells differently, or does not carry at all. Evaluation and funded accounts usually run on MetaTrader demo servers, which is what Trepeat currently connects; live real-capital accounts aren't supported.

An MT4 follower is always hedging
MT4 does not offer netting, so the follower side of this pairing has no mode to check and no netting alert to receive. Each copy is its own position with its own ticket, a partial close is sized by the repeater's rule (one too small for the follower's minimum closes the whole copy), and a second copy on a symbol the account already holds opens alongside rather than merging into it.
A netting MT5 source changes the shape
Trepeat reads the source account's margin mode from the broker once it connects and flags a netting account on the Accounts page. If that source is netting, scaling into a symbol produces one position rather than two, and its close produces one event — so the MT4 follower ends up holding what the source held, which is not always what you intended to place. Worth knowing before the first copy, not after.
Instruments an MT4 broker may not carry
MT5 brokers commonly list instruments their MT4 offering does not, and spell shared ones differently. There is no pre-check for a symbol the follower does not carry: the order goes to the follower's broker, which refuses it, and Trepeat records a failed copy with the reason, alerts you, and suggests the follower's own name when it lists a match. Map the name once and every later fill uses it.
Symbol remapping
Brokers name the same instrument differently — EURUSD on one, EURUSD.r on another, EURUSDm on a third. Set a remap once and every later fill uses it. Point it at all followers, or at ONE named follower when two brokers disagree — which is the case an all-follower rule cannot express, because it can only offer a name every follower carries.
Built for evaluation + funded accounts
Prop-firm evaluation and funded accounts usually run on demo accounts — MetaTrader demo servers, or a cTrader demo account where the firm issues one — which is exactly what Trepeat currently connects. Run your evaluations and funded accounts side by side, each repeater with its own sizing and symbol rules. A challenge placed on a live account can't be connected either way. We don't share data with prop firms or read their evaluation rules.

What each number means

Any platform to any platform. Mix MT4, MT5 and cTrader followers under one source.

Sized and matched per account. Lots follow each account's equity or your multiplier; broker symbol names are remapped once.

Maximum lot per order. One cap per repeater: no single copy is bigger than you allow.

Alerts that reach you. In-app for every event; email when an account stays disconnected or copies keep failing.

Live P&L and journal. Every account's results in one place, with notes on each setup.

Closes checked. A follower that misses a close while offline raises an alert on reconnect. Flatten closes the source trade and every copy of it. Trades Trepeat isn't copying are never touched.

Fast, always on, out of your way.

The engine runs around the clock in the cloud, so your PC can be off and your phone is all you need.

Real time

Pushed, not polled

Fills reach Trepeat over a live stream from each broker connection, and the order goes to every follower as soon as the fill arrives. Each follower's broker still sets its own execution time.

30 s

Uptime probes

The site and app are checked every 30 seconds from several AWS regions, and the engine is watched by alarms around the clock.

Broker passwords encrypted

Kept in an encrypted vault and never sent to your browser. cTrader connects through its official sign-in, so Trepeat never sees that password at all.

Only copied trades are touched

Flatten closes the source trade and every copy of it. Trades Trepeat isn't copying are never touched.

MT5 to MT4 Trade Copier — common questions

Can I copy trades from MT5 to MT4?

Yes, and in either direction — an MT5 source can drive MT4 followers and an MT4 source can drive MT5 ones. The order action itself copies the same: opens, and closes whether full or partial. What needs attention is instrument naming between the two brokers and, on this direction, whether the MT5 source is a netting account. Live real-capital accounts aren't currently supported.

Does MT4 support hedging and netting like MT5?

No. MT4 accounts behave as hedging: every order opens its own position and you can hold several, even opposing ones, in the same symbol. Netting is an MT5 account mode. That makes MT4 a straightforward follower — there is no mode to check and no netting divergence to manage on the receiving side.

What happens if my MT5 source account is netting?

Copying runs normally, but the source reports a single net position per symbol. If you scale into a trade there it is one position rather than two, and its close is one event, so the follower repeats the merged shape. If your strategy only ever holds one position per symbol you will not notice; if it scales in, the source and the trades you placed have already diverged before any copying happens.

What if the MT4 broker does not have the instrument?

The broker refuses the order, and Trepeat records a failed copy with the reason and alerts you. Where the same instrument simply has a different name, map it once on the repeater and every later fill uses the remapping — Trepeat proposes the follower's own name from its symbol list rather than guessing.
